Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) August 14, 2013

In todays technologically-driven society, where never-ending work demands and over-connectivity have become the new norm, health, nutrition, quality family interaction, and exercise are being neglected. Fast food, sodas, gaming, the Internet, and digital communication have supplanted home-cooked meals, adventurous family vacations, reading, direct personal communication, and active living. With this threatening wave of mass digital confusion and lack of healthy habits, todays kids, for the first time, are expected to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents.

Its a reality Kimatni D. Rawlins knows all too well. As the president and publisher of the automotive media and marketing portal, Automotive Rhythms, Rawlins, like so many other men with demanding careers and thriving businesses, had succumbed to the unhealthy eating and inactivity that characterizes the American lifestyle, despite his stellar athletic background during high school and college that included playing running back for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Two years ago, the 39-year-old husband and father of two young girls literally added a new gear to his foundation when he embarked on a life-enhancing journey to transform himself and his family.

Determined to break the SAD (Stand American Diet) routine, Rawlins began engrossing himself in research on food, biology, degenerative disease prevention, and fitness. Naturally, his active lifestyle spilled over into the household and pretty soon, fruit, vegetables, and whole grains replaced junk food, white rice, and fried animal proteins. Now, bike rides and 5K races typify active fun time. Rawlins also hosts and leads complimentary Social Workouts for friends and associates.

Fit Fathers follows the tutelage of Neal Barnard, Dean Ornish, Joel Fuhrman, John A. McDougall, T. Colin Campbell, Matthew Lederman, Rip Esselstyn, and many more who believe that eating fresh, organic foods (plants, fruits, whole grains, legumes) is the best dietary methodology for human consumption. The movement previously shared advice on transitioning to a healthier path, research on the benefits of daily activity, recipes and, workout routines only through social media via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Instagram, Tumblr, Google+ and LinkedIn, under the auspices of FitFathers or Kimatni Rawlins. To help more dads and their families, Rawlins has launched the web portal, http://www.FitFathers.com. Despite its title, Fit Fathers has a large following from mothers, single adults, and the youth.

The Fit Fathers movement has literally changed many who follow us, so we widened our reach even further, explains Rawlins. The team is not just satisfied with telling you whats wrong; Fit Fathers is absolutely committed to empowering supporters with life-enhancing solutions.

And that message has resonated loudly, even within the automotive industry where Rawlins has distinguished himself for nearly two decades. I love to run, especially when its with friends and colleagues, chimes in John Krafcik, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America. Its been really rewarding to see how far Kimatni has come with his running and overall fitness he can now run rings around me and has provided added inspiration. Congrats to Kimatni and Fit Fathers!

With statistics showing that over a third of children in the United States are obese and recent studies suggesting that fathers have the most influence over what children eat and what they do, Rawlins says the time has never been better for Fit Fathers to manifest. Instead of rewarding kids with popsicles and cupcakes, Fit Fathers advocates giving them the fruits, nuts, and healthy snacks that nourish their growing bodies. Ultimately, nutritional eating, a conscious focus on overall wellness, and regular exercise will keep us all breathing easy, running further, swimming faster, cycling longer, and laughing harder, he adds. So stay active, eat well, and energize your life!

About Kimatni D. Rawlins

Along with his cousin, Vince Rawlins, the nations fastest hurdler, Rawlins won state titles in track and field in 1992, the same year he also led his high school football team to a conference title and a spot in the Group Championship. Going on to play running back at N.C. State and Georgia Institute of Technology, Rawlins received a degree in business marketing with a minor in economics. After shedding 50 pounds through daily workouts and a plant-based diet to retain his high school weight of 205 pounds, today, the married father of two elementary-aged girls is a certified trainer as well as certified eCornell.com plant-based nutrition graduate who enjoys running, sprinting, cycling, hiking, obstacle courses, boxing, basketball, yoga, and weight training. He competes in a few races, including 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons and indoor track meets, monthly and logs roughly 30 miles a week on foot.

A Word from Fit Fathers

Health, fitness, nutrition, and overall wellness are priorities for the extension of life. To achieve the balance of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients our bodies need, we must eat whole foods from the earth daily. In addition, appropriate nourishment helps us function properly, perform sustainably, and effectively fight off the onset of degenerative diseases such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and more. Regular exercise is also vital. Just as the human body needs food and sleep, it also requires an active lifestyle to maintain muscle mass, strengthen bones, balance blood sugar, stabilize weight, circulate blood, jump-start metabolism, and much more. Eat clean, drink clean, and enjoy your life!
