Hong Kong (PRWEB) November 16, 2012
Animoca (http://www.animoca.com), the mobile gaming developer and publisher behind hit apps such as Pretty Pet Salon, Pet Cafe, Top Models and many others, announced today it has secured the worldwide rights to develop and publish mobile games for Mr Bean, the hit British comedy television series, and Ultraman, the Japanese superhero and pop culture icon.
Animoca agreed to license Mr Bean from Tiger Aspect Productions Limited, one of the UK’s leading TV and film production companies, for worldwide distribution. Mr Bean is the title character of the endearing comedy series that first aired in the UK in 1990 and ultimately gained a large global following. Starring actor Rowan Atkinson playing what he describes as a child in a grown man’s body, the show has received numerous international awards for its slapstick comedy while inspiring an animated cartoon spin-off and two feature films. Mr Bean, played by Atkinson himself, even made an appearance in the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony.
The license to produce mobile games based on Ultraman was granted to Animoca by Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd. (http://www.tsuburaya-prod.co.jp/en/), a Japanese special effects studio. As the title character of the Japanese Tokusatsu television series that first aired in 1966, Ultraman is a super-powered humanoid from outer space who fights to protect the Earth from sinister aliens and rampaging monsters. Ultraman became a major Japanese pop culture phenomenon with significant international appeal, spawning dozens of sequels, spin-offs, imitations, parodies and remakes. Animocas license with Tsuburaya Productions is worldwide.
We are very excited to secure the rights to two such entertaining, beloved and globally recognizable figures as Mr Bean and Ultraman, said David Kim, co-founder and CEO of Animoca. Our mission is to deliver first-rate games on tablets and smartphones, and we look forward to turning the incredible IPs from Tiger Aspect Productions and Tsuburaya Productions into apps that will extend and enhance the brands of Mr Bean and Ultraman.
