Closter, NJ (PRWEB) July 6, 2010

Food Allergy Kid SPoT, LLC, announces the launch of a new website, http://www.foodallergykidspot.com, a unique site designed to entertain, empower and educate children with food allergies, along with their parents, caregivers, siblings and friends. The visually stunning website uses bright colors, cartoons and appealing voiceovers to achieve its goals. There are video games and activities, blogs written from the point of view of various aged children with food allergies, an animated character representing a doctor answering kids questions about food allergies, a weekly poll, and great child-friendly recipes.

The website is highly interactive — children and their parents will have the ability to submit questions to be answered by a doctor, as well as to share recipes and stories to be posted on the website. The website thus fosters the companys twin goals of educating these children about their food allergies so they can become more confident and self-reliant and creating a sense of community for these children so they will feel less isolated and alone. Future plans for http://www.foodallergykidspot.com include an age-appropriate social networking component with the creation of virtual characters customized by food allergy.

It is critical that children with food allergies learn to safely navigate the world around them. By using media and technology with which they are familiar, Food Allergy Kid SPoT succeeds in educating these children for the future in an exciting way, states Dr. Neil Minikes, Food Allergy Kid SPoTs consulting physician.

About Food Allergy Kid SPoT, LLC

Food Allergy Kid SPoT, LLC (SPoT refers to the SPT, or Skin Prick Test used to determine whether a person has a food allergy), was founded by Ann S. Ginsberg, an attorney, and the mother of two children, one of whom has multiple food allergies. Both of her children love to play and learn on the computer, and, as a member of her local school board, she knows that increasingly, fun, educational computer games and activities are being integrated into the curriculum. With the availability of so many great websites out there for children, Ms. Ginsberg was frustrated at the lack of resources available for her seven year-old daughter to learn about her food allergies. Ms. Ginsberg enlisted a friend, Leslie A. Perlmutter, also an attorney and the mother of three children who do not have food allergies, to help her. The two women formed Food Allergy Kid SPoT, LLC.

Food Allergy Kid SPoTs consulting physician, Dr. Neil Minikes, is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and an attending physician at Columbia University Medical Center, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and the Hackensack University Medical Center. He is Past President of the New Jersey Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Society and currently serves on its Executive Committee. His practice, Allergy and Asthma Center of Northern New Jersey, is located in Bergen County, New Jersey.

Serafin Vazquez is the Creative and User Experience Director for Food Allergy Kid SPoT. He has worked for companies such as MTV, InterActiveCorp, AOL, Ask.com and The College Media Network. Serafin is very passionate about creating experiences for a variety of demographics and jumped at the chance to contribute to Anns cause.
